Upgrades
Referees who are registered with the United States Soccer Federation (USSF) may upgrade to the next referee grade once they have satisfied specific requirements.
The following information has been extracted from the USSF Referee Administrative Handbook and any recent changes per memorandum.
Upgrading requirements:
- Minimum age
- Game Count & Experience Level (USSF affiliated games)
- Time in present grade
- Training courses (Training from USSF/FIFA instructors)
- Written Exam (passing score)
- Assessments (passing score)
- Physical Fitness Test (passing score)
Because of the complexity of upgrading, it is strongly recommended that you contact and work with your State Referee Administrator and State Director of Assessment.
